The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Your first name, last name
  • Your role and affiliation to a residential childcare organisation
  • Your contact information, including email address.
  • Other information necessary to provide member services

How do we get personal information, and why do we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • You are affiliated with a residential childcare organisation which is a member of The Children’s Homes Association (CHA)

We also receive personal information indirectly from the following sources in the following scenarios:

  • A residential childcare organisation which is a member of The Children’s Homes Association (CHA) to enable that organisation to set up member-related services on your behalf.

We use the information given to us to:

  • To provide, manage and improve member-related services, including participation in virtual and in-person meetings and events.
  • To allow us to deliver events, live broadcasts and webinars hosted by or affiliated with The Children’s Homes Association (CHA)
  • To further the objectives of The Children’s Homes Association (CHA) and showcase the work of residential childcare professionals.
  • To enable The Children’s Homes Association to collaborate with other organisations.
  • For research purposes.
  • To comply with UK legislation.

We may share some or all of this information with Glue Up (our website and membership platform) to facilitate your membership and provide member-related services and benefits.

We do not otherwise share or sell personal data to other organisations for their own purposes.

We rely on your consent for most of how we use personal data to provide member-related services.

We rely on legitimate interests for how we use personal data. We expect that the following uses fall within our legitimate interest:

  • Providing Secretariat services
  • Providing member-related services to residential childcare professionals affiliated to residential childcare/social care organisations that are members of The Children’s Homes Association (CHA).
  • Representing and promoting the objectives and interests of The Children’s Homes Association (CHA) and its members
  • To give and receive information
  • To obtain appropriate professional advice and insurance

Legal Obligation

We rely on our legal obligation to comply with UK company and employment law. We will also process special category personal data or criminal records information in accordance with rights or duties imposed on us by law, including in connection with the employment of staff.

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored.

We keep the information we store for as long as necessary whilst we have your consent and for the minimum time required for our legitimate interest and legal obligations.

We will then dispose of your information by permanent electronic deletion or physical destruction.

You are not required to pay any charge to exercise your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
